The facility at Ebino in Miyazaki prefecture is a combined disease prevention center and internal medicine hospital (as per Article 42 of the Medical Care Act). Situated on a flat plain framed by mountains at the southern tip of the Kyushu Mountains, Ebino city is a place of outstanding scenic beauty. It also has a large number of natural hot springs and has long been famed for its hot-spring treatments. The medical facility, located in the downtown area of Ebino city, is much loved by local residents. In addition to dispensing vital health care services, it also serves as a community hub and a place to gather. The existing building has been refurbished to provide a fitness club with gym machines and equipment as well as a dietary consulting service and clinic. The new building houses a 25-meter pool with three lanes and a rehabilitation pool with walking equipment. The majestic roof has been designed in a graceful arc as an architectural response to the distant mountain ridges. The unique shape also promotes natural airflow inside the building and prevents buildup of water vapor. With its distinctive flowing roof-line that complements the nearby mountain range, the new building is seen as a landmark structure in the local area.
