The township of Hanoura is located in a farming district on the flat plains of central Tokushima prefecture in the lower reaches of the Naka river, on the northern side of the river with fields and paddies all around. The site is an elongated parcel of land running north to south, with the JR Awa-Muroto Seaside Line railway line running along the southern boundary, making it appear as if there are trains passing through the facility itself. The facility design includes a series of "play stations" dotted around the buildings and grounds and connected together by decks and bridges. The aim is to keep children active and engaged throughout the day, including periods when they are outside the nursery rooms. The northern boundary with the entrance road is lined with metal panels with see-through holes, covering the old and new facility buildings. The aim is to promote engagement with the local community by providing a visual link as well as views of children at play in the facility grounds. Joint design: JAKUETSU Co., Ltd.
