The building is in Akashi Maiko Danchi, a "bed town" residential development for Osaka and Kobe. It is located inside Matsugaoka Park, in the center of the development district. The park is a natural wonderland rich in flora and fauna featuring huge numbers of pine trees, and it has long been a popular destination for the local community. Inspired by the image of children playing happily outdoors, the design seeks to actively incorporate walking paths from the park into the building interior. The advent of this facility provides children with a new form of connection to the park. A gentle staircase provides further opportunities for play on the way to the rooftop, which is regularly made open to the public on events and special occasions. High-gloss metallic latticework on the exterior walls generates soft reflections of the surrounding trees, helping the building to blend seamlessly into its surroundings. Through the gaps in the latticework, between the reflections of the nearby trees, we see the children playing indoors, almost as if they were running around in the forest itself.
